OUR STORY

TWO FRIENDS.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS.
ONE CREATIVE REBELLION.

We started Dirty Quilter because life got messy, quilting got real, and we wanted a place where creativity mattered more than perfection. What started as a friendship became a creative lifeline—and eventually a community.

HOW WE GOT HERE

IT STARTED LONG
BEFORE QUILTING.

Two women smiling outdoors, holding colorful quilt blocks, with a house and trees in the background.

We've known each other for more than 25 years.

Over those years, we've built businesses, raised families, celebrated wins, survived losses, and somehow always found our way back to the same conversations about creativity, purpose, and what really matters.

THEN LIFE SHIFTED.

Both of us found ourselves navigating chronic illnesses that changed our lives at nearly the same time. The pace we once kept slowed. The plans we had made changed. And we were forced to rethink what success, joy, and fulfillment looked like.

Somewhere in that season, quilting became more than fabric and thread.

It became healing.
It became connection.
It became permission.

And eventually, it became the
Dirty Quilter.

We created Dirty Quilter for anyone who has ever felt behind, overwhelmed, stuck, intimidated, or like they didn't belong.

Because creativity isn't about perfection.

It's about showing up.

Making the thing.

Trying again.

Finding your people.

A timeline illustrating the journey of a community or organization, including five key milestones: becoming friends over 25 years ago, building something together through a business adventure, a life-changing season, discovering quilting as a healing outlet, and creating a supportive community.

MEET THE AIMEE

A woman with curly gray hair and glasses smiling outdoors on a sunny day, wearing a dark sweatshirt with colorful text, leaning on a quilted blanket draped over a wooden railing in a garden with green grass, trees, and a house in the background.

Aimee is a quilter, teacher, and content creator behind @Authentically_Aimee on TikTok, where she shares quilting projects, creative inspiration, and the beautifully imperfect reality of making things by hand.

Her warmth, humor, and encouragement have built a thriving community of makers who come for the quilts and stay for the connection.

Through Dirty Quilter, Aimee shares her belief that quilting is about more than finished projects—it's about connection, confidence, creativity, and finding your people along the way.

MEET THE COLLEEN

A woman with short blonde hair smiling outdoors, wearing a blue denim shirt, with a wooden fence and houses in the background.

Colleen brings storytelling, healing, and a lifelong belief in the power of creativity to transform lives.

With more than two decades in the wellness industry and a passion for helping people reconnect with themselves, she has spent much of her career guiding others through seasons of growth and change. Through her online meditations, writing, and teaching, she continues to help people find calm, meaning, and inspiration in everyday life.

Through Dirty Quilter, Colleen combines her love of community, personal growth, and meaningful connection to help others discover that making something with your hands can be every bit as powerful as finishing it perfectly.
